Juvenile Percussion Ensemble
The Juvenile Percussion Ensemble consists of a group of young percussion music enthusiasts, each one of whom has spent six to nine years building a solid foundation in the genre. As a result, even if they must bear the heavy responsibility of their schoolwork, they still have the self-discipline to use their spare time to pursue their musical dream! Since the group was established, it has helped close to 10,000 children fulfill their dreams under the instruction of the group's teachers. As such, the Juvenile Percussion Ensemble is Taiwan's largest musical society that has built a nationwide, inter-regional percussion music interchange platform.
The Juvenile Percussion Ensemble has established the goal of helping teenagers to grow and enjoy life through percussion music in line with the principles of amateurship, life, and happiness. Thanks to their passion for percussion music, these young people manage to use their precious free time to practice even though they are invariably subject to intense academic pressure. After more than a year of hard work, the group officially marked its inception at a public performance given on October 15, 2000. At that time, 19 groups jointly held the founding "Blossoming Percussion Music Talent" concert at the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall. This concert attracted two thousand enthusiastic listeners, and was a very gratifying result of Artistic Director Ju Tzong-Ching's percussion music promotion campaign. The 19 groups at the time of the Juvenile Percussion Ensemble's establishment have now grown into over 100 groups across Taipei, Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung.
Through many years of learning, the Juvenile Percussion Ensemble has accumulated an outstanding record, and is frequently invited to perform on various occasions, including the Children's Human Rights Summit, the opening ceremony of the Fifi Youth and Child Book City, Taipei Children's Art Festival, Weekend Art Festival at the National Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall, and Carrefour Children's Art Festival. Since 2004, the Ensemble has held several annual concerts each year, and has used these concerts as an opportunity to display its abundant learning results. In July 2007, the Juvenile Percussion Ensemble left Taiwan for the first time to perform in Shanghai, San Jose, and Los Angeles. These new percussion music stars are using both hands to create bright futures of opportunity for themselves.
