Jumping Percussion Group
The Jumping Percussion Group is the cradle of new talent for Ju Tzong-Ching's percussion music groups. The members of the Jumping Percussion Group range from 18 to 22 years of age, and all are percussion music students at various universities and colleges. While most young people of their age are still gazing blankly at their future, the members of this group already know how to use a pair of drumsticks to pound out their own path, and are well on their way to becoming promising future stars!
Committed to the cause of percussion music promotion and education over the years, Artistic Director Ju Tzong-Ching is keenly aware that only real practice and performance can let young musicians combine and make best use of the theory and technique that they have learned at school. The Jumping Percussion Group was established for just this purpose.
The group stages an average of thirty to forty performances each year, in turn giving the young members of the group plenty of performing experience. Annual public performances provide opportunities for group members to demonstrate their professional percussion music qualifications, as well as their improvement over the course of the year. Apart from playing highly challenging famous percussion music pieces, the group also invites contemporary Taiwanese composers to write new pieces for them. In particular, the group's vigorous performances are commonly held in different levels of schools throughout Taiwan. The group relies on its campus tours to drum up interest in music at Taiwan's schools, and encounters with young peers provide opportunities to encourage the arts and bring percussion music into schools. The Jumping Percussion Group considers it another worthy mission.
