It is our ninth year to organize Taipei International Percussion
Summer Camp (TIPSC) in 2008. In the past years, the scale of the
Camp has been growing in fourth times. The reputation of Taipei
International Percussion Summer Camp is undoubtedly established.
The 10-days intensive percussion training focuses on students
who have at least five years of percussion studies. To enhance
the students' techniques and broaden their world perspectives
during their percussion studies, the TIPSC provides a series of
advanced curriculum to boost up the students' music potentials.
Multiculturalism is the main theme of the TIPSC. The diversity
of the curriculum is the major reason for which the Camp is so
popular. In addition to Western percussion classes such marimba,
drumset techniques and percussion ensemble, ethnic percussion
takes an important part in the curriculum. To compare the difference
of percussion between the East and the West and to introduce the
"world percussion" to the students, the Camp specifically
invites reputable ethnic percussionists from different cultures.
It is our hope that the students can learn fundamental percussive
skills of other cultures through the percussive professionals.
The faculty of the previous TIPSC has included Leigh H, Stevens,
She-e Wu, Zoltan Racz, Emil Richards, Steve Houghton, Paschal
Yao Younge, Kalani, Gordon Stout, Keiko Namakura, Chalo Edurado,
Owen Goldman, Masaki Otawa, Naoko Takada, and members of Ju Percussion
Group.
